Dr. Joseph J. Allen

About Dr. Allen

Dr. Joseph Allen is committed to bringing you and your family an exceptional level of care. “My Vision is to make your experience the most memorable and comprehensive it can be.

Dr. Allen received his doctorate degree with high honors and graduated Salutatorian from the Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, and performed a hospital-based residency in ocular disease through the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center.  Through this program Dr. Allen received advanced training in managing various eye diseases including uveitis, glaucoma, age related macular degeneration and corneal infections. He was also trained in the pre- and post-operative management of refractive surgery, cataract surgery, and eyelid surgeries.

Dr. Allen is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Minnesota Optometric Association, as well as a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry. He contributes to his areas of expertise by presenting to professionals and peers, and is a published author on the topics of retinal disease and glaucoma.

He generously gives his time back to the community by hosting seminars, free eye health screenings and participates yearly in local health fairs. Additionally, he has participated in missions to third world countries who are underserved in eye care.

When he is not in the clinic, Dr. Allen enjoys biking, rock climbing, video games, painting, cooking, and staying active with his family.

Dr. Aaron R. Boatz

About Dr. Boatz

Dr. Aaron Boatz joined our practice in 2003. He became a co-owner of Northway Eye and Gaida's Opticians in 2012. He graduated from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee in 2003. He is a graduate of St. John's University and Sartell High School. Dr. Boatz has two children Ryan and Grace. He is a member of the American Optometric Society and the MN Optometric Association.

Dr. Rodney A. Melgard

About Dr. Melgard

Dr. Melgard received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in Los Angeles, CA. Clinic rotations included primary care, pediatric, contact lenses, low vision and geriatric care. Clinic services were located at the Optometric Center of Los Angeles, Indian Health Services, Long Beach Naval Shipyard, Las Vegas Rehabilitation Services, March Airforce Base and East L.A. School Screenings.

Prior to Optometry School, Dr. Melgard earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from St. Cloud State University. Upon graduation from Southern California, Dr. Melgard started his first private practice in the fall of 1980 in Buffalo. “It has been wonderful to experience growth and changes in the office to our current location.

Dr. Melgard has been involved in Buffalo and Wright County soccer for many years. He also provides vision care to non-English speaking patients without access to health care and is a member of Buffalo Rotary Club since 1981.
Dr. Melgard enjoys snow skiing with his grown daughters Ana and Ali in Park City, Utah and water skiing at his home on Lake Pulaski.

Dr. Bennett W. Nelson

About Dr. Nelson

Dr. Bennett W. Nelson has been a member of the American Optometric Association, Indiana Optometric Association, Northern Illinois Optometric Association, Loves Park Rotary, Knights of Columbus, the VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) organization, the Gift of Sight Foundation, and the Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts of America. Dr. Nelson has received many awards through his work with these organizations. He was awarded the Gift of Sight Spirit award for Sears Optical, the Cole Vision Award for Outstanding Customer Care in 2000, Luxottica Passion Ownership & Speed Award in 2004 and 2006, and he was named Doctor of the Year nominee in 2003. Dr. Nelson also received the Helen Keller Award from the Minnesota Lions Vision Foundation for his mission work and contribution to helping others.

Dr. Stephanie Norberg

About Dr. Norberg

Dr. Stephanie Norberg joined Eagan & Savage Eye Clinics in 2019. Dr, Norberg grew up in Burnsville, MN and she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of North Dakota in 2013. While on break from UND, Dr. Norberg interned here at Eagan Eye Clinic. She went on to Oregon to complete her Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2018. After optometry school, Dr. Norberg completed a one-year residency program ant the Minneapolis VA Medical Center specializing in Primary Care, Brian Injury and Low Vision Rehabilitation. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, going to the lake, biking and traveling.

Dr. Shalon Ronning

About Dr. Ronning

Dr. Shalon Ronning joined our practice in 2017 as a graduate from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. There she received her degree as a Doctor of Optometry and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She is a native of Albany, MN, where she attended high school and graduated in 2009. After high school she earned her Bachelors of Sciences in Biomedical Sciences from St. Cloud State University before beginning optometry school in 2013. She & her husband Nate reside in St. Augusta, MN. When she is not working, she enjoys running, spending time on the lake, and spoiling her beagles Cooper & Cora. Dr. Ronning strives to provide an extraordinary experience to each of her patients.

Dr. Jeffrey P. Sanderson

About Dr. Sanderson

After finishing his Medical Doctorate, Dr. Sanderson completed a comprehensive medical and surgical internship at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He received his formal residency training in Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota, and sub-specialized in cataract and corneal surgery and disease management at the prestigious Pepose Vision Institute in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. Sanderson has had extensive training on all of the newest intraocular lenses used to both treat vision loss from cataracts and restore functional reading vision without the need for glasses. He offers a full repertoire of corneal and lens-based surgical solutions for vision correction including the latest in personalized wavefront guided laser treatment.

Through his comprehensive practice, Dr. Sanderson provides comprehensive Ophthalmology care for patients with glaucoma, diabetes, lid disorders, dry eyes, and a variety of ocular diseases.

Dr. Sanderson strives to offer his patients the most technologically advanced treatment for ocular disease and surgical management. He has been involved in FDA clinical trials in Ophthalmology and has performed research in the areas of glaucoma, cataract surgery, LASIK, and diseases of the eye.

He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Sanderson has also been published in medical journals and has presented at national meetings.

Dr. Warren Stoltman

About Dr. Stoltman

Dr. Stoltman grew up in Brainerd, MN. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN and then his Doctorate of Optometry from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. While at Ohio State he was president of Beta Sigma Kappa, an optometric honor society, and earned the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award for his class. Dr. Stoltman is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Minnesota Optometric Association.

“I love being an optometrist. During my day I can help a 6 month old see their parents clearly for the first time, discuss diabetic concerns with a patient’s eye, help a teenager with their first prescription for contact lenses or help a patient understand how cataract surgery can improve their vision while reducing their need for wearing glasses. No day is ever the same. Helping people with their visual and ocular health needs has been a very rewarding profession.”
Dr. Stoltman enjoys being a part of the Buffalo community. He is involved in the Buffalo Rotary Club and has served as the club president. While he has enjoyed volunteering for local community projects he has also spent time internationally volunteering to provide visual and ocular health needs with other local medical providers through Mission Jamaica.

Dr. Stoltman is married to another optometrist, Dr. Amanda Stoltman. They have 2 teenage boys and a British Lab named Brutus. In his spare time Dr. Stoltman enjoys many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, shooting and golfing.

Dr. Benjamin Stout

About Dr. Stout

Dr. Stout grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Luther College in 1995. He completed his Doctorate and earned a Bachelor of Science of Visual Science from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1999. Dr. Stout’s professional interests at Savage Eye Clinic include specialty prescription contact lenses and the diagnosis, treatment and management of ocular diseases.

Dr. Michael D. Sufka

About Dr. Sufka

Dr. Michael Sufka is a co-owner of the practice. He graduated from Illinois College of Optometry in 1999. He is a graduate of St. John's University and Cathedral High School. Dr. Sufka carries on the Sufka name taking over the business after his father Dr. David Sufka retired. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Minnesota Optometric Association.

Dr. Kimberly H. Watson

About Dr. Watson

Dr. Kimberly Watson joined the practice in 2014. A St. Augusta native and graduate of Tech High School, she attended St. Cloud State University and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biomedical Science and Chemistry. She received her Doctorate of Optometry with honors from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2001. When away from the practice, she enjoys spending time with family, outdoor activities and community involvement. She is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease. Dr. Watson is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and treating each patient as family.
