About Dr. Grudem
Established Birch Lake Eye Clinic in 1979. Dr. Grudem received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin, and his Doctorate of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Minnesota Optometric Association, and is on the Board of Directors for TLC Laser Center. Dr. Grudem resides in Blaine with his wife.

About Dr. Lucas
Dr. Kevin Lucas received his Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University in 1998. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Chemistry from Mankato State University.

Dr. Lucas has been in practice since 1998 and specializes in glaucoma treatment and contact lens fitting. As an optometrist, Dr. Lucas applies his knowledge and experience to each patient’s particular needs as they relate to vision problems and overall eye health.

About Dr. Schwantke
Dr. Brad Schwantke received his Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University in 2011. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from St. John’s University.

Dr. Schwantke, whose field specialty is in pediatric eyecare, has been practicing optometry since 2011. As a young man, Dr. Schwantke was particularly influenced by his hometown eye doctor who he was able to observe and, through him, learned more about the optometry profession. He saw firsthand the importance of his mentor’s role in the community and his enjoyment as he helped provide people with better vision. It was then Dr. Schwantke knew that optometry was a profession he would really enjoy.

Dr. Schwantke especially enjoys getting to know and connect with his patients and their families. He truly considers all of his patients as friends.

Jeffrey P. Sanderson, O.D.

About Dr. Sanderson

After finishing his Medical Doctorate, Dr. Sanderson completed a comprehensive medical and surgical internship at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He received his formal residency training in Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota, and sub-specialized in cataract and corneal surgery and disease management at the prestigious Pepose Vision Institute in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. Sanderson has had extensive training on all of the newest intraocular lenses used to both treat vision loss from cataracts and restore functional reading vision without the need for glasses. He offers a full repertoire of corneal and lens-based surgical solutions for vision correction including the latest in personalized wavefront guided laser treatment.

Through his comprehensive practice, Dr. Sanderson provides comprehensive Ophthalmology care for patients with glaucoma, diabetes, lid disorders, dry eyes, and a variety of ocular diseases.

Dr. Sanderson strives to offer his patients the most technologically advanced treatment for ocular disease and surgical management. He has been involved in FDA clinical trials in Ophthalmology and has performed research in the areas of glaucoma, cataract surgery, LASIK, and diseases of the eye.

He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Sanderson has also been published in medical journals and has presented at national meetings.

Warren Stoltman, O.D.

About Dr. Stoltman

Warren J. Stoltman, O.D.Dr. Stoltman grew up in Brainerd, MN. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN and then his Doctorate of Optometry from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. While at Ohio State he was president of Beta Sigma Kappa, an optometric honor society, and earned the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award for his class. Dr. Stoltman is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Minnesota Optometric Association.

During my day I can help a 6 month old see their parents clearly for the first time, discuss diabetic concerns with a patient’s eye, help a teenager with their first prescription for contact lenses or help a patient understand how cataract surgery can improve their vision while reducing their need for wearing glasses. Dr. Stoltman enjoys being a part of the Buffalo community. He is involved in the Buffalo Rotary Club and has served as the club president. While he has enjoyed volunteering for local community projects he has also spent time internationally volunteering to provide visual and ocular health needs with other local medical providers through Mission Jamaica.

Dr. Stoltman is married to another optometrist, Dr. Amanda Stoltman. They have 2 teenage boys and a British Lab named Brutus. In his spare time Dr. Stoltman enjoys many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, shooting and golfing.

Rodney A. Melgard, O.D.

Dr. Melgard received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in Los Angeles, CA. Clinic rotations included primary care, pediatric, contact lenses, low vision and geriatric care. Clinic services were located at the Optometric Center of Los Angeles, Indian Health Services, Long Beach Naval Shipyard, Las Vegas Rehabilitation Services, March Airforce Base and East L.A. School Screenings.

Prior to Optometry School, Dr. Melgard earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from St. Cloud State University. Upon graduation from Southern California, Dr. Melgard started his first private practice in the fall of 1980 in Buffalo. “It has been wonderful to experience growth and changes in the office to our current location.

Dr. Melgard has been involved in Buffalo and Wright County soccer for many years. He also provides vision care to non-English speaking patients without access to health care and is a member of Buffalo Rotary Club since 1981.
Dr. Melgard enjoys snow skiing with his grown daughters Ana and Ali in Park City, Utah and water skiing at his home on Lake Pulaski.

Dr. Stephanie Norberg joined Eagan & Savage Eye Clinics in 2019. Dr, Norberg grew up in Burnsville, MN and she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of North Dakota in 2013. While on break from UND, Dr. Norberg interned here at Eagan Eye Clinic. She went on to Oregon to complete her Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2018. After optometry school, Dr. Norberg completed a one-year residency program ant the Minneapolis VA Medical Center specializing in Primary Care, Brian Injury and Low Vision Rehabilitation. Dr. Greg J. Friederichs is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and contact lens section of the AOA, sports vision section of the AOA and American Academy of Optometry-candidate, optometric clinical affiliate of Summit Technology and Minnesota Optometric Association, third party/insurance committee and co-editor-MOA EyeCare Benefits newsletter, and advisor to St. John’s University’s pre optometry program.

Dr. Friederichs is board certified by the International Associations of Board Examiners. He is certified in basic and clinical sciences of optometry as well as treatment and management of ocular disease. Dr. Friederichs holds research and advisory positions in many ophthalmic companies including Johnson & Johnson, Alcon, Polymer Technology, EyeSys Technology, Allergan, Menicon, Ciba Vision, Bausch & Lomb, Storz, and Cooper.

He has been published in the Journal of the American Academy of Optometry, EyeQuest magazine, the Journal American Academy of Optometry, the Journal British Contact Lens Association, Optometric Management, Review of Optometry, and Contact Lens Spectrum. Dr. Friederichs also lectures nationally on contact lenses, contact lens solution, eye diseases and practice management.

Giving back to the community is a priority for Dr. Friederichs. He is past president of the Paynesville Jaycees, past cub master of Paynesville’s Cub Scouts, member of the Paynesville Lions, Paynesville and St. Cloud Chamber of Commerce, and the Knights of Columbus. Dr. Friederichs is a member of the Minnesota chapter of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, and has lead eye care mission trips to South America. His awards include St. John’s University’s Senate Service Award, Beta Sigma Kappa Optometry honor student, and Minnesota Young OD 1995. Dr. Cole is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Practice Management, Inc. Dr. Cole has been practicing comprehensive eye care in Minnesota for 15 years. He provides comprehensive eye care at all three locations in Oakdale, Cottage Grove and Woodbury. Dr. Cole is passionate about providing neuro-optometric rehabilitative vision therapy to adult and pediatric populations with binocular vision dysfunction.

Dr. Cole serves as a vision consultant resource for numerous local school districts and is a resource for Children's Hospital Occupational Therapy services. Dr. Brittany Radke was born and raised in Hastings, Minnesota. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Radke received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN while graduating summa cum laude. After practicing in Madison, WI for 5 years, Dr. Radke joined SPMI in March of 2018.

Dr. Radke enjoys seeing patients of all ages and offering full comprehensive eye care — including fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses, ocular disease management and treatment, as well as surgical co-management. Dr. Radke is a member of the Minnesota Optometric Association, Wisconsin Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Lauermann decided to become an optometrist after shadowing and working in optometric practices and seeing just how they can manage and treat patients’ eye health throughout their life. Dr. Lauermann feels that seeing patients yearly provides him the opportunity to help them function to the best of their visual potential and make everyday life easier for them. He can also direct patients to the proper physician if a systemic condition is discovered.

Dr. Lauermann says his career in optometry is very rewarding and intriguing, and he is constantly motivated to provide the best care to every patient he sees. He particularly enjoys seeing his patients smile when they get their first pair of glasses allowing them to see how clear the world can be.
