ADVANCED DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES

In some cases, special testing is needed to diagnose or monitor an eye problem that you may be experiencing. Eagan Eye Clinic is equipped with the most advanced diagnostic testing equipment to ensure our patients that they are receiving the most thorough and complete eye exam possible. Our highly trained staff will provide you with the highest quality care and personalized service and attention.

Eagan Eye Clinic has the following specialized instruments:

Heidelberg Spectralis Retinal Scanner (OCT)
A Heidelberg Spectralis Retinal Scanner is used for Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). OCT is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to take cross-section pictures of your retina, the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye. With OCT, each of the retina’s distinctive layers can be seen, allowing your doctor to map and measure their thickness. These measurements help with the diagnosis and provide treatment guidance for glaucoma and other retinal diseases such as macular degeneration and diabetic
Corneal Topographer
Corneal Topography is a non-invasive imaging test used in mapping the surface curvature of the cornea, the outer structure of the eye. Understanding the topography of the cornea is important in determining quality of vision and corneal health. Corneal topography helps doctors diagnose and treat a number of eye conditions including keratoconus and in the planning of surgical procedures. The procedure is carried out in seconds and is completely painless.
Corneal Corneal Pachymeter
Corneal Pachymetry is the process of measuring corneal thickness. Measurements of the cornea are significant in determining if you are a candidate for refractive laser surgery and in the detection of glaucoma and keratoconus. Additionally, thin corneas can lead to falsely low pressure readings and thick corneas can lead to falsely high pressure readings.
Digital Retinal Camera
A Digital Retinal camera is used in the production of high resolution images of the retina and can be used to establish a wellness baseline to follow critical retinal developments throughout your life.

Any routine eye exam should always include a careful assessment of the retina to screen for abnormalities or possible diseases such as macular degeneration, retinal detachments and diabetic retinopathy.

Oculus Visual Field Analyzer
An Oculus Visual Field Analyzer is an instrument used for measuring the human visual field. The results of the analyzer identify the type of vision abnormality and provides information regarding the location of any disease processes throughout the visual pathway. Results can be stored and used to monitor the progression of vision loss.
Slit Lamp Anterior Segment Camera
Slit Lamp Anterior Segment imaging provides a clear picture of a patient’s ocular health status. Images are displayed on a visual screen and provides visual-based education for the patient that they can understand.
Wavefront Aberrometer
Aberrometry measures the way light passes through the cornea and the crystalline lens, which are the refractive (light focusing) components of the eye. Distortions that occur as light travels through the eye are called aberrations that reveal specific vision issues such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
